Blog down 7/2/19
I suspect this a problem much bigger than us (Cloudflare seems to be down) -- but in the meantime you can use this post for comments if you want to.

Well, shoot. -- Site down on 9/24/13
So apparently it's a BAD idea to try to restore the database for the dev site when the guy who set up the dev site somehow used the database for the main site. I don't get exactly what's wrong, but we're doing what we can to get it up and running asap.
In the mean time, please feel free to comment/threadjack away.

Fourth of July Weekend Thread
I wanted to fuss around with some more tech stuff so I thought I'd throw up a splash page since comments seemed very low anyway (is that a tech problem or is everyone just on vacation? Still lots of visitors). Anyway: if you've come to comment, here's a new thread for you.

Corporette.com appears to be up and running
I am cautiously optimistic that the site is back up and running... we shall see. :)
Wednesday (3/23/11)'s TPS Report : Sharkskin Grey Splitneck Dress
Bluefly has a number of great Tahari dresses on sale, including this lovely grey sheath dress. I like the splitneck, the belt, and the cap sleeves -- it's your basic perfect-for-3-seasons dress. Was $148, now on sale for $104 (limited sizes only, alas). Tahari ASL sharkskin grey split neck belted sheath dress

Love Quotes Scarves Giveaway (Now Closed)
We got the best reader mail a long while ago, and always wanted to do an open thread to try to answer it. But this one takes a lot of work from you guys, so when we got a great offer from Chickdowntown.com to run a contest to give away a Love Quotes scarf, we knew this was the way to go. First, here's the reader mail:
To the writer of that e-mail, we wish you the best of luck with the exploratory search. To the readers of this post -- what a fabulous question!! We've noticed throughout the year this blog has been up and running that there are definitely regional differences. On the weekend thread, for example, a surprising number of people from Texas have commented that partners wear shorts and flip flops on the weekend -- whereas in New York offices we've seen partners in seersucker suits. So here are the rules: We're going to ask a few questions. In order to enter the contest, you must a) give us your e-mail address when you comment, so we can contact you if/when you win (we'll keep it private), b) answer all of the questions. We'll keep the contest open until Monday, June 8, at 11:59 p.m. E.S.T. About the goods: We've long been fans of Love Quotes scarves -- they're super soft, come in a million colors (you get to pick your color), and are the quintessential wrap/scarf to wear and bring everywhere. They're normally priced at $88. Chickdowntown.com itself is a new fashion site home to designers both familiar and not, such as creative leather shoes from Giuseppe Zanotti Shoes and others.
So: Here are the questions. We can't wait to start reading the responses...
OK! Hopefully we've kept the quiz short enough that we'll get responses... We really appreciate this, you guys.
UPDATE: Please note that the contest has closed -- but we'll leave comments open in case anyone wants to add to the discussion. Please go back to Corporette.com to make the comment, though.
I am exploring a job move to a new part of the country, and thought it would be nice if you had a series on how to dress if you are in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, the Midwest, etc. (I'm an attorney looking at moving from Las Vegas to Kansas City.) I'm trying to make sure I don't come out as the "too fashionable bimbo" or the "dowdy out of touch kid."

So: Here are the questions. We can't wait to start reading the responses...
- What city do you work in?
- Where are you in your career -- beginner, mid-level, senior?
- How conservative is your office, scale of 1-10? Let's say it's a 10 if the men wear suits every day, and 1 if the men can wear jeans if they want to.
- What is a typical interview outfit for your region? (Color? Skirt suit? Shoes?)
- What is a "casual day" outfit (weekday) for your region? (Are jeans allowed?)
- What established "rules" that we've mentioned -- covered arms, covered toes, etc -- don't ring true to your region? (I.e. -- I'm from Ohio and we all wear peep toes to work!)
- What's the biggest gaffe you've noticed repeatedly in your career?
- (Optional) -- What other comments do you have about your region do you care to mention?
OK! Hopefully we've kept the quiz short enough that we'll get responses... We really appreciate this, you guys.
UPDATE: Please note that the contest has closed -- but we'll leave comments open in case anyone wants to add to the discussion. Please go back to Corporette.com to make the comment, though.
